Greyhound Pet Adoption Northwest is a non-profit corporation based in Portland, Oregon serving Oregon and Southwest Washington.
We are:
An all-volunteer, foster-based greyhound adoption organization;
Neutral regarding greyhound racing; we are neither pro-nor anti-racing.
A tax-exempt organization, so your donations are tax deductible. Our federal tax exemption number is 93-1027344.
Able to accept greyhounds from tracks and breeders as well as any greyhound returned to an animal shelter or relinquished by an owner. No greyhound is turned away from Greyhound Pet Adoption Northwest regardless of age, injury or where it began its life.
Available to offer support and follow-up to new and experienced adopters with questions and issues about their greyhounds.
A Little History
Created in the 1980’s to find homes for local greyhounds who could no longer race at the track in Portland, the organization grew and received 501c3 tax-exempt status in 1993, as an affiliate of the national Greyhound Pets of America. In 2010, we became an independent organization and changed our name to Greyhound Pet Adoption Northwest.
During the last 40 years, adoption of retired racing greyhounds has flourished throughout the U.S. as people learned about these amazing dogs. Greyhound Pet Adoption Northwest is closing in on our 6,000th adoption placement in 2021
